Member Information

Committees
Committees are groups of volunteers that serve the members of GACAR by working to improve the programs, products, and services offered to members.

The Business Partner Committee promotes networking opportunities between Realtor® and Business Partner members; works to increase the value of Business Partner membership by encouraging  Realtors® to use the services provided by Business Partner members.  This committee also plans the Realtor® EXPO.  Time commitment for this committee involves one-hour monthly meetings.  In addition, staff generally needs help at the Expo with setup and breakdown.

The Bylaw Committee maintains GACAR governing documents (Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and Policies).  Implements changes approved by the Board of Directors and the National Association of Realtors.  This committee meets once per year to review the Bylaws.  If changes are needed, they meet monthly until updates are complete. Meets as needed.

This group educates members on their responsibilities and obligations under the Code of Ethics.

Members of this committee may also be called upon to review ethics complaints or requests for mediation or arbitration. The process may include two different levels of review.  The Grievance level includes a panel of members who review a complaint at "face value" to determine if, based on the information submitted, there should be a hearing. The Grievance panel only sees the complaint not the response.  If the case is moved forward to a hearing, the case will be reviewed at the Professional Standards hearing level where the panel then reviews the complaint and the response to determine if there was a violation. This panel may assign disciplinary action.

This committee meets as needed.

NOTE:  Members of this committee must attend training provided by GACAR.  This is a three year commitment.

The Member/Community Outreach Committee plans networking opportunities including General Membership Meetings and after hours events.  Develops and promotes the Realtor® image in the community. This committee is also responsible for the “Realtors® Reaching Out” campaign.  These volunteers meet for an hour monthly.  In addition, committee members research venues, catering, entertainment needs for events.  They also help before, during and after an event.

The Professional Development Committee provides opportunities for members to increase their professionalism and profitability through education.  The committee meets each month for an hour to plan the education programs to be offered.

The Public Policy Committee identifies local issues affecting, or potentially affecting, the real estate industry and/or private property rights, and takes action by becoming involved in those issues to ultimately make recommendations to the Board of Directors; disseminates information on local, state and national issues to the membership.

This committee requires a questionnaire which needs to be completed prior to your appointment.  The questionnaire will be sent to you after receipt of your completed committee request.

This Committee is responsible for fundraising, increasing participation, raising awareness, appreciation and retention efforts for RPAC (Realtors® Political Action Committee).

The Technology Committee presents existing and future technologies that may enhance the practice and profitability of members. Plans and organizes educational efforts to raise the technological awareness of the membership.

The YPN (Young Professionals Network) plans, organizes, and delivers functions/programs for the benefit of Young Professionals.  Network with other young professional members picking up tips, listening to speakers related to young professionals in real estate, and discovering professional opportunities.
